I am absolutely agree with you,David.... .Tigers are drugged. I thought they have no freedom and this is only benefit the tourism business between temple with foreigner business group not a charity as they've made the positive image.

So that's why I spend all my money on travel -- because I'm an English lit student.

Glad you're enjoying Australia. It's one of my favorite destinations, as well.;. All the best!!

Hi Amy,
It's Tim here, remember, the skipper for this particular trip!
Small world eh? I was just searching around some blogs and came across this, couldn't believe it!
Anyway, hope the rest of your trip was a good one and you got some sunshine. We have had heaps of rain again this year so there must be Canadians about!
If you want to see some of what you missed check my blog out.

                                   See Ya!

Hey Amy, thanks for your comment on my blog. Makes me smile that you are visiting other travel blogs, as if not to close the travel door.

It's amazing how our trips were similar in certain respects. I can imagine you blogging from Antelope Park's slow shady and grossly overpriced internet connection, getting ready to gorge swing at vic falls or discover the spider-shaped sculpture (oddly, I saw the same in front of the Mori building in Tokyo).

I have read some of your pages and marked your blog - need.want to read some more. Concerning your "conclusion", I must admit that I recognized myself in a lot of things you are writing. Spot on for being an optimist to believe things will work out, plans are meant to be changed, knowing how accessible is the world and realizing that it isn't a "once in a lifetime" thing...

Hope you get the chance to go again !

The reason the tigers were placid is that the are drugged all the time.

This tourist attraction is now blacklisted due to cruelty to the tigers.
I live in Thailand and am an active member of people trying to get this place shut down.
Look here

Thanks

[...] The glacier is somewhat dirtier than I expect, snow and ice mixed with dirt and rubble. Cliff tries to impress me by saying that the glacier gets somewhere between 14 and 15m of snow at the top, whereas the average Canadian ski hill might get 3-4m. I think of my friends and fam back home in Canada and I’m sure they feel like they’ve been dumped in 14-15m of snow, and they don’t live at the top of a glacier. Hiking the glacier is my little homage to them and what I’m missing. As we get further up, the dirt slowly gives way to stunning blue and white ice. We slip slide through tunnels and caverns and under ice arches and the view is magnificent. At one point, all the groups are forced to stop as Cliff and some of the other guides hack a pathway into the ice. The hole we have to manoeuver through reminds me of the “letterbox” in the Cangol Caves in South Africa. See Ostriches and Caves. [...]
